Chic Courtyard, South London
_

The owners of this courtyard garden had wracked their brains for years about how to improve the front entrance to their house. The space available had a number of design challenges: it would be viewed mainly from above and it was quite dark and dank.

The brief was to design a beautiful garden that would complement the stylish design of the interior. My solution was to create a calm, uncluttered space with strong bold lines softened by creative planting. The use of mainly shade tolerant plants in a limited palette of dark green, raspberry, lime and cream creates a soft, lush feel while three Himalayan birch trees provide screening and additional interest. Lighting for key plants and uplighter's for the trees create a magical atmosphere at night.
